SAM Gallery

Six of my paintings will be featured in an upcoming SAM Gallery exhibition from January 5 to February 11. The exhibition also includes Building C Studios alum and friend, Patricia Hagen, as well as Bailey Russel, Jason Starkie and Donna Watson.  The gallery is located at 1220 Third Ave.

Getting the to CORE of the Matter

CORE is a new non-profit artist run gallery of contemporary artists located in the Tashiro Kaplin Building in Pioneer Square (117 Prefontaine Street, Seattle). It will officially open during First Thursday Art Walk, January 6, 2011, from 6-8 pm with an exhibition featuring work by gallery artists.

If you happened to walk past the gallery during First Thursday in December than you saw the artists running around in white Tyvec suits and dust masks while we demolished the old walls and scraped peeling paint from the ceiling. Guest artist Eric Ostrowski performed amidst the construction and out on the street.

The initial dust has settled.  The new walls are up and about to be taped, mudded and painted in preparation for opening the doors.  While our website is also a work in process, please check it out.  You'll find a list of artists and photos from the December First Thursday. I am very excited to be a part of CORE and working with this talented group of artists.

While the dust settles on the Annual Building C Studios Holiday Sale I want to send out a huge thank you to everyone who made this year the best one yet. Almost every studio was open. Santa appeared for photo ops at Homesite Furniture, our wonderful studio neighbor who shares space in Building C with all of the artists.  We had live jazz from 4 pm on, and you who braved the monsoon-like rain to come out and join us. It was truly a fun-filled evening and I was delighted to see so many familiar faces. I hope you made it home safely. Thanks too to Becky Brooks who always comes out and covers for me when I need to take a brake.

As I approached my car to head home I found myself ankle deep in a puddle of water and more than once as I drove home, wondered about the amphibious limits of my car.  Fortunately I did not reach it! So stay dry on this wet and woolly Sunday. Maybe read a book or watch a good old movie. It's a good day for relaxing.
