artEast is a very cools place. It is a non-profit artists’ collective centered in Issaquah and provides a community for artists on the Eastside and surrounding area. It has grown exponentially over the past few years and recently began offering a wide range of classes in addition to its retail store on Front Street and the upfront Gallery at the back of the space where exhibitions focus on the community. One of my favorite annual exhibits happens in the fall. Juried artists are elected to meet a member of the community and create both a visual and verbal biography that honors the community member’s service to the community.
Beginning on Friday, April 2, you can bid on over 100 pieces of art at the on-line gallery located on the artEast website. Right now you can get a preview and plan your purchase. Each piece of art is 12’x12’. The beginning bid is $50 and the top bid is $300. This is a terrific way to support artEast and get a wonderful piece of art in the process. Check out item #64 from yours truly. The original art will be on exhibition in the upfront Gallery through the end of April. The opening reception is this Friday, April 2, from 6 to 9 pm.
