Walking through Chinatown first thing in the morning is one of my favorite things to do here. Security doors roll up revealing stores packed full of exotic items from crimson wallets decorated with golden dragons to green jade statues. Bins filled to capacity with fragrant oranges, bok choy and ginger line the sidewalk and customers inspect them carefully to find the freshest ones. Delivery trucks rumble by. A crisply dressed young professional man walks by at a brisk clip checking his iPhone. Colorful lanterns zigzag above. Bright, multicolored signs are a feast for artist eyes. Children with parents in tow head toward sounds of laughter and squealing from the schoolyard down the street. Just another day in the city.
