You may recall that last summer Seattle artist Todd Jannausch of Gallery 40 fame (a traveling art gallery frequently in place outside of Vermilion on Capitol Hill during second Thursday art walk) created Gallery (206). It is housed in a phone booth and includes original art from 18 local artists. Inside the gallery is a "Phone Book" with 206 listings of artists (below is a photo of my listing). The gallery was originally installed in Occidental Park with permission of the Parks Dept. but has subsequently been unable to find a permanent home.
Early on Christmas morning Todd delivered Gallery (206) as a Christmas present to the Seattle Art Museum by placing it at the foot of Hammering Man with a note requesting that it be accepted into the permanent collection. To the best of my knowledge this is where it remains. Time will tell if SAM accepts the gift. Below are a couple of links to blogs who have written about the gift.
