Mind/Body Connection

Here's another quote from Janine Antoni, from the October 2009 Art in America interview (original quote referenced here; I had to get a copy of the magazine so I could read the full article):

The body holds memory differently than the mind.

Here is a photographic self-portrait of Antoni entitled Inhabit.  In it, in case the link doesn't work, Antoni is suspended in a child's room with her hips and most of her legs trapped inside of a doll house, all trapped inside of a web made up of ropes tied to the halter she is wearing.  I am inspired by the way that Antoni successfully visualizes the way we humans hold onto memory, how we inhabit space, and how all of that makes up who we are individually and collectively.
